Caring for PANDORA Jewelry
Caring for PANDORA Jewelry
At PANDORA in International Plaza, we offer complimentary cleanings on all PANDORA jewelry. In most cases, the cleaning takes about 20-30 minutes which allows you to shop and look at the new collections in the meantime. When at home, clean your jewelry by simply using lukewarm water with a little bit of dish soap. Using a soft-bristled toothbrush, you can scrub the jewelry with the dish soap and then rinse off with clean water. You may also use a silver polishing cloth to maintain the shine, which we have available in our store.
Keep your jewelry away from sterling silver cleaners, pools, hot tubs, and spas as this can cause harm and damage to your jewelry.
How Should I Store My PANDORA Jewelry?
When not wearing your PANDORA jewelry it should be stored and kept in an anti-tarnish pouch, which we have available in our store, or in a plastic zip-lock bag. This will help keep your jewelry clean and keep it from tarnishing.

You can combine pieces from our assortment to create unique looks that expresses your personal style and unforgettable moments. Stretching of PANDORA chains and bracelets is not considered a manufacturing defect. Do not expose your PANDORA products to harsh chemicals or environments. Silver pieces are given detail by oxidation. Exposure to harsh chemicals or environments can alter the appearance of your PANDORA product. These types of chemicals include, but are not limited to, liquid silver polish, pools, hot tubs and spas.
General wear and tear, misuse, and tarnishing are not covered under the warranty.
Genuine pieces of jewelry provide lasting memories and symbolize the unforgettable moments in your life. Because genuine jewelry is kept for many years, the precious metals, stones and cultured freshwater pearls need maintenance and care.
Protecting Your Jewelry
We recommend that customers remove jewelry before going to bed or participating in physical activity. Remember that jewelry must not be exposed to the chlorine or salt water, as this will dull the appearance. Try to prevent your cultured freshwater pearls from being exposed to water and cleaning agents. Cultured freshwater pearls must only be cleaned with a soft brush or cloth.
Cleaning Your Jewelry
To clean your jewelry, pour a small quantity of mild soap into some lukewarm water and use a small, soft toothbrush. Toothbrushes are ideal for cleaning jewelry with patterns, which can otherwise be difficult to clean. If the dirt is hard to remove, soak the jewelry in clean water. However, remember that this cleaning method should not be used to clean jewelry with freshwater pearls.
A silver-polishing cloth is a great tool to make your silver jewelry shine again if the pieces have become dull. However, it will not remove scratches. Silver-polishing cloths can be purchased from our PANDORA store or your local goldsmith.
PANDORA is happy to offer jewelry cleaning services tailored specially for your PANDORA products.
Storing Your Jewelry
Jewelry should be stored away from natural sunlight and heat in a protective (lined) jewelry box or a tarnish-resistant pouch. It can also be stored in a plastic zip lock bag made of Mylar or polyethylene. Never use polyvinyl plastic bags, such as trash can liners as they contain sulfur compounds, or rubber containers which will make sterling silver tarnish faster and can also turn silver jewelry black Do not store your jewelry in the bathroom.
Please note that our PANDORA white gift boxes are not made for long-term storage as they are not airtight and tarnishing will occur over time.
Gold and silver are soft metals and become worn with use. This is true for all genuine jewelry. Depending on the degree of use, it is recommended that your jewelry be inspected at least once a year by a goldsmith. In particular, it is important that clasps, mounts, and soldering are checked.
The PANDORA bracelet stretches over time as weight (e.g. charms) is put on the bracelet. The chain, commonly called a snake chain, is made out of many little rings which are twisted very tightly into the chain. When buying a new bracelet it should be fairly tight. There should be no more than a thumb space between your wrist and the bracelet.
Oxidation disappears with time. How quickly depends on how the jewelry is treated. Things which can cause the oxidation to fade include: perspiration, chlorine, perfumes, cleaning agents, and silver polish. Oxidation that fades is considered normal wear and tear and is not a defect. We do not recommend using silver polishing liquid. Oxidized (dark) jewelry does not benefit from being dipped in silver polishing liquid, as it destroys the oxidation.
Cultured Freshwater Pearls
Cultured freshwater pearls cannot withstand silver polish. Avoid contact with makeup, creams, chemicals, and cleaning agents.
All enamel is Italian made without glass, which makes it more durable.
Leather is a natural product that will benefit from careful protection. Do not use in water or other liquids that may cause discoloration. Leather can stretch and relax over time; stretching is not a defect in this product. As a natural feature of genuine leather, you may notice gentle shading and variations in color. You may also experience a change in the shade of the leather due to oils in the skin and the addition of charms to the bracelet or necklace.
Use with a maximum of 7-10 charms. When adding charms to the new leather bracelet, please take care to hold the leather bracelet steady and twist the charm onto the bracelet. Be careful not to twist the leather part of the bracelet when adding charms, as the leather may be damaged.
Color cords are made of synthetic fibers, which may become damaged or discolored if submerged in water.
How Our PANDORA Jewelry Is Made:
PANDORA provides hand finished and modern jewelry, which is made of solid sterling silver, and 14k and 18k gold. Most pieces will have precious and/or semi-precious stones in order to add color and sparkle and to enhance the look of each piece. Each individual piece of jewelry goes through 30-50 sets of hands before PANDORA sends it out, therefore allowing every piece to be unique and different.
Sizing the PANDORA Bracelet:
The best way to know what size bracelet you will need is by wrapping a tape measure tightly around your wrist and adding 1 inch to the measurement. Then you will find the closest bracelet size and that is the size best suited for you. You want the bracelet a little loose because as you keep adding to the bracelet the charms take up space causing the inside of the bracelet to become a little tighter.
How The PANDORA Bracelet Works:
Each bracelet is divided into 3 sections by using a patented threading system throughout the whole bracelet. Most of the charms have a threading system in the inside, which allows you to twist the pieces onto the bracelet. The bracelet has 2 main threadings in the middle of the bracelet which is where you would ideally place 2 clips. The purpose of the clips is to keep the charms in place and not cause them to roll throughout the whole bracelet.
The way you open the bracelet is by sliding your fingernail into the crease which is between the “P” and the “A” and push down on it. To close the bracelet, put the small mushroom tip into the cradle and just pinch the sides together until you hear the clasp snap.
